The evolution of technology essay

The evolution of technology especially with the emerging robotics technology has cause a majority of the human capital coming from the old school systems to become obsolete. A lot of the employees who are not familiar with the computer systems and software are experiencing technical trouble in learning how to operate a program. Training may help out but it is a totally different scenario if the young ones gets into the keyboard and play their fingers to work on a project or a certain application.

Experience and learning thru constant exposure or by simply doing it as part of the daily task may offer the old workers some income protection but they are likely to call the young ones for a very simple technical problem like pressing the wrong key in the keyboard. In short the task could be done more effectively and efficiently by the young ones at a more accelerated speed. Technology advancements have always turned them into has been in the sphere of technology. Technological change requires more education and training.

Three problems can be identified in the change: the productivity of inexperienced workers, speed of experience that raises productivity, and the level of general skills required to operate and substantiate the introduction of the new technology. However the speed of the training comprises the skill, aptitude and the ability of the old workers to comprehend the present system. We cannot disregard mental performance which tends to slow down in the aging process. Computers points to give the greatest contribution to business performance and economic growth amidst the slowdown of the development with the aging human capital.

This is the very reason why the adaptation is being focus in the business organization environment. Considering that the transfer of knowledge from the old to the young is the cornerstone of productivity growth, we can say that the transfer of technological knowledge from the young to the old is the cornerstone of technological growth too. Where the young, the old, and technology converge to produce skills and productivity, the old workers has a big role in slowing down the advantage of change to a probability of failure.

Human capital matters in the relative technological change. The change already implies that the young workers are its beneficiary and primary adopter. People are most adaptable when young and that is a fact. Maintaining the old workers benefits us in a lot of special ways too. They have the amazing ability to forecast and instinctively know business trends because of their years of experience. All workers that are affected by the change shall be trained and educated with the kind of technology the organization is adapting.

The trade off with the present technological advancements is the non inclusion and non consideration of the old workers in adapting the technology with regards to their knowledge and skills. Moreover their experience does not compensate running a program impromptu. Both the positive and the negative effects have been well discussed and pointed out. The old workers have to find their use in the society and in their workplaces. In every level of technological advancement the initiators and developers must have designed a user friendly program to match their mental and physical ability.

They must retain their places in work areas. A list of emotional distress and frustrations will be noted with the change but the creation of a user friendly program adaptable and equally challenging to all ages might help diminish these problems. Of course it is relative that frustrations could be a product of inferiority and incapability to handle new technology. In overcoming the dark side of IT, the only solution is the provision of easy to use, user friendly software. The impact of technology in the workplace helps elevate the mountains of paperwork and develops effectivity thru efficiency.

Each of us has a job that involves learning and understanding to complete our duties and responsibilities in a daily basis. The influx of technology in workplaces has streamlined office task. Workers were noted to perform and accomplish more work quickly. Technological accommodations make it possible for people with disabilities to enter the workplace and become part of the working society. For example, workers who are blind can read memos through scanners and voice output. A laptop computer may have numerous options on the screen for people with physical disability and have difficult time communicating.

There is also a software and hardware that translates line into the computer to a Braille display in front of the keyboard. The assistive computer technology system assists people with disabilities and it is a good design for our aged workers that find computer adaptation difficult. The pressure now is with the software developer. Technological advancement now lies with the creativity of the software and hardware developers to accommodate the different types of workers in the working society. Technology might prove to be difficult but with the existence of technological accommodation it could prove to be of help to most of us.
