I like seeing and working with more people. I am more of a team worker than being a lone group leader. In many circumstances like when going to the mall or even when studying, I like to be with someone or a group. I love sharing experiences while doing the things that I like. Moreover, I am more concerned with the welfare of others and more focused on caring for them rather than to myself. I am afraid to be alone because when I am alone, many thoughts would come to occupy my mind and I am not able to process them as long as I could not share them to someone.
There is always a need to talk for me so I can immediately process my ideas and not let them linger in my mind for a long time and later on forget. Moreover, I believe that being with more people is a happy character especially when the people in my company share the same interests like I do. Other than that, I feel that I am more responsible and accountable when I am with more people. I know that I somehow, I need them to know what I am doing and I need to know what they are also doing.
All these make me an allocentric person. Characteristics of Allocentric and Idiocentric Allocentricism is a medical and psychological description to people who are more centered to other person rather than in oneself. Idiocentricism, on the other hand, is the exact opposite of allocentrism where a person is more centered to him- or herself than to others. These two differs a lot in behaviors and thoughts. Allocentric people prefer to be in the company of more people.
They appear to be friendlier than those who are ideocentric because they can be more approachable. They do not want to be in large spaces alone. They always want that other will share their experiences with them and that they will show concern to their friends and family. They have the ability to learn other’s behavior and become flexible in dealing with different people in different circumstances. This kind of persons becomes more of a team player rather than managers.
They are very good in mobilizing and decentralizing leadership. They are more concern with relationships rather than results and achievements. Idiocentric people are usually loners. They prefer to be alone and work alone. Though they may also exhibit flexibility in dealing with other persons they are more flexible in working in different places with or without people around them. They prefer to answer their own needs rather than that of others, they have the tendency to save their own selves in times of tragedy and neglect others.
They have good interpersonal skills and know how to control the other aspects of their being like emotional and psychological. Usually, such kinds of persons are focused on achievements and results more than the people they work with. On another note, they possess a lot of stress than their allocentric counterparts. Conflicts between the Two Characteristics I have some friends or sometimes groupmates who are from the other end of the individualist-collectivist continuum. There are some who are very individualist who prefer to work alone and be alone.
We always come into conflict when taking responsibilities especially those that involves asking or interviewing people. They sometimes afraid to take such kind of tasks and appear weak and avoiding the tasks. Other than that, conflicts also arise in terms of sharing of experiences. Idiocentric people prefer to be silent and reserved even when it is required to share.
