1. Describe your career path to your current position. Include information about education and experiences.

JB was clear while answering the question concerning her career journey. The interviewee said that she is satisfied with her job, and she has always been happy working with prominent hospitals, and assisting patients. The Nurse Informaticist has a Masters degree in Nursing Informatics. JB attained her Nursing Bachelor of Science Degree and later pursued the postgraduate degree in Informatics to become a specialist in Nurse Informatics. To be a registered nurse, JB acquired a license that helped her practice nursing. The Nurse Informaticist has eight years experience in the same job. JB is ANCC certified and additionally, the interviewee has six years skills with software vendors in healthcare hence, able to design and implement documentation in the health systems, and electronic health records.

2. Discuss the value of best evidence as a driving force in the delivery of nursing care at your facility.

JB said that their facility upholds the best evidence because, their management and professionals work together to avail quality care to patients. The nurses are dedicated to guaranteeing the recovery of patients. The modern technology enables nurses to give enough care to patients. This is through educating their workforce, development of models, carrying out research, and networking with other hospitals through research.

3. What safeguards and decision-making support tools are embedded in patient care technologies and information systems that support safe practice at your facility?

The safety measures and decision support tools used in their organization comprise of computerized alerts and prompts, diagnostic provisions, clinical procedures, focused data sum-ups, documentation models, and patient’s reports.

4. Tell me about patient care technologies that have improved patient care at your facility.

JB alleged that their facility had many technologies applied in providing patient care at the hospital. The technologies entail an integrated cardiac care, barcode medication systems, programs for text messaging, electronic health records, and eCare for partners. Additionally, they have more precise and less invasive tools for diagnosing and treating, leading to low risks to patients at low costs. Robotics are also used in biomechatronics within their facility.

5. What groups of health care workers rely on you to collect high-quality information/data and how is that information utilized?

Healthcare workers who collect data from JB include pharmacists, social workers, lab techs, and therapy professionals. After social workers have identified a health issue in the community, they take information from JB to find the best help to the patients and the society. Pharmacists use Nurse Informatics data to monitor the current drug therapies, which contribute to improving prescriptions due to better documentation.

JB claimed that the nurses face many challenges, and overcoming them is problematic. Other professionals like clerks, cleaners, and account officers rarely recognize the role they play in the hospitals. They use offensive language, or are unwilling to serve the nurses. This is because, most of them have type A personalities, with less training in social skills. Understanding them helps in overcoming the challenges.

1. How will completing this interview impact your practice as a BSN-prepared nurse? Give specific examples.

The discussion was helpful in the building of my career. I was able to know that at workplace, problems arise due to conflicts with other professions who view the role of nurses as less. I have also realized some of the technologies that are significant in an efficient healthcare delivery. Technology helps quick recovery among patients with better diagnosis means, hence, I am recommending the healthcare organizations to embrace technology.

An Evidence-Based Methodology

The 1987 Nursing Care Reform Act directed basic care to patients to guarantee mental, physical, and psychosocial wellness. Quality facilities give good care whereas, the poorly run ones offer substandard care. The volume provides an evidence-based structure for better care in nursing homes. The authors assessed the history, growth, and the present state of patient care in nursing homes. Qualitative and quantitative data is assessed to find the variability in US healthcare facilities.
