Inhis study, Cramer(2003) observes that partial correlation and standardized partialregression are commonly used in the control of variables inlongitudinal and cross-sectional research studies. The author usesprevious data studies on relationship between conflict behavior andmarital satisfaction. The study offers a detailed approach to help incriticizing quantitative research. The question for the study ispegged on the correlation between marital satisfaction and conflictbehavior among partners.
Researchor study design elucidates the methods used in the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data (Coughlan, Cronan, & Ryan,2007). The author used regression analysis by varying the variables, both the predictor and criterion variables. Quantitative studies canuse experimental, quasi-experimental, and non-experimental designs(ReSukal, 2013). The findings from the study depict that positiveverbal behavior have high potential for enhancing maritalsatisfaction. Nonetheless, the findings indicate decreasedsatisfaction over time. The test-retest correlation for maritalsatisfaction over three years showed high positive consistency.Controlling the initial marital satisfaction eliminated considerablevariance in the analysis. Also, the demands of the husbands were notlinked to the concurrent marital satisfaction, although a positivechange is predicted on wives’ satisfaction. The author suggeststhat the sign and size of a relationship between variables can bechanged by introducing a partial third variable (Cramer,2003).
Inconclusion, regressionmodels depend linearly on the unknown parameters hence, giving riseto statistical properties that are easier to evaluate. Standardlinear regressions that have standard estimation approaches requireare developed to enable the users to eliminate certain assumptions. The article offers important information on regression andcorrelation although the content was not properly structured. It isnoteworthy that the main areas were captured, but no headlines weregiven after the abstract.
