There is division in my society as a result of division in terms of housing, jobs, finance and loans and Education. Like in other society, these inequalities bring a division in the society as those who are in the same status tend to associate together. Income distribution is the main cause of inequality in my society as people tend to live a life they can afford according to their income. For instant, we find that those who earn a high salary tend to live an expensive life while those who earn a low salary live a cheap life.
For this case, money dictates one where to live or the kind of a life one is supposed to live as this is dictated by the ability to afford the kind of life one desires to live. In my society, there are cheap houses and expensive houses. For this case, those who earn a high salary afford to pay high rents hence they live in expensive house while those with low salaries live in cheap houses. For this case, money is seen here as the determining factor as to what kind of a house one should live in.
Due to this, those who live in a certain estate or apartment tend to associate together thereby bring a kind of division in the society. It is quite hard to find people from two economic backgrounds associating together unless they are relatives. Another issue that brings about inequality in our society is jobs. In the society, there are those jobs that are highly paid and there are those that are lowly paid. Due to this, those people who are employed in highly paid jobs tend to live a very expensive life since they can afford it while those who hold lowly paid jobs lives a cheap live since this is what they can afford.
On the other hand, those who hold the same status of jobs in the society tend to live together. This is so because, they rent house in apartments they can be able to afford and as a result of staying together, they associate together thereby bring inequality in the society. On the job issue on the other hand contribute to inequality in our society since those who hold the same status of job in the society tend to socialize together. For instant, those who are in white collar jobs associate together while those in informal sector socializes on their own.
On the other hand, it would be quite hard to find those who are doing causal jobs in an organization socializing with those doing office work. For this case, cleaners or gardeners do not socialize with their bosses since they are not in the same status as far as jobs are concerned. Those doing manual or casual jobs in an organization tend to associate together while those in the formal sector like managers have their own group of association. This in turn contributes to the inequality in our society.
Finance and loans also contribute to inequality in our society as those who have access to finance and loan tends to disassociate themselves with others. Money is the main determinant with the kind of people one is to associate themselves with. For this case, it brings a lot of division in the society with those who can access finances and loans living extra ordinary lives while those who have no access to finance and loan lives an ordinary life. To purchase an asset like a car or even a house and if one cannot access a loan, it means you will not purchase that asset.
For this case, those who have access to finance and loan especially those who holds white collar jobs, they can afford any asset they would want to purchase. This in turn enable them be in a position to purchase expensive houses or car since they have access to finance and loans while the ordinary person continue to live his normal life. This drastic move in their lifestyle as a result of money makes those with access to finance and loan associate together while those who have no access to these kinds of facilities associate on their own.
For this case, this ends up bringing inequality in the society. Education is usually the key to any successful life in the world today. This is the reason our government advocate that children should not be denied an opportunity to attend school. The highly qualified people in terms of education ends up being employed in highly paying jobs. For this case, they are paid high salaries hence they can be able to afford an expensive life than those who never made good grades in school.
Due to this reason, they tend associate themselves with those who have money thereby disassociating themselves with those who have no money. On the other hand, in the society, there are different kinds of schools. There those that are privately owned and the public schools. The private schools are said to have better quality of education than the privately owned schools. Since these privately owned schools are expensive, those with money are the only ones who can afford to take their children in these schools.
For this case, their children attain quality education in these schools and later on in life attain the highest degree in education. This in turn makes them to be the only ones who can be employed in highly paying jobs due to their qualification against their counterparts who attended public schools. This scenario continue to widen the gap between the rich and the poor since those who are rich their children attain the highest degree in education hence they get highly paying jobs. They in turn continue to live the expensive life since they can afford as result of their highly paying jobs.
This continues to widen the gap between the rich and the poor in the society hence inequality in the society. Education can be seen as the key contributor to inequality in our society. Since education is the one that determine the destiny of a person in terms of the kind of a job he is qualified to do and the salary he is to be paid, we need to bring equality in the education sector. If at all we need to have a society where people will be living as brothers and sisters, we need to ensure that children the same quality of education either at private or public schools.
This will ensure that those who are poor will have access to quality education hence they will be in a position of uplifting their life. This will ensure that the poor will not continue being poorer as their life’s might uplifted as a result of quality education. This will in turn reduce the gap between the rich and the poor in the society hence inequality will at least reduce.
